Stephanie S. Johnson grew up Colorado and North Carolina. She graduated in 1993 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (with honors) and Speech Communication. As an undergraduate, Stephanie completed an Honors Thesis in Political Science and was a member of several academic honor societies. She was also active in Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Stephanie received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 1996. During law school, she was active in student government and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Research, Reasoning, Writing and Advocacy Program and participated in the Civil Legal Assistance Clinic representing indigent clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Stephanie also received an academic award for her research and writing skills in the UNC School of Law Moot Court Competition. Stephanie was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1996, and practices primarily in the areas of family law, juvenile law, and real estate. Stephanie holds the necessary certifications to serve as a mediator authorized to conduct Child Custody and Visitation Mediations in the Illinois' Ninth and Tenth Judicial Circuits.  Outside the office, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her daughters, Riley and Morgan; her husband, Drewe; her cats, Charlie and Molly; two American Eskimo dogs, Suzy and Rachel; and the other animals in their managerie. She enjoys crafts, including jigsaw puzzles and counted cross-stitch.
